VRV - Variable Volume Refrigerant Systems

Variable refrigerant volume (vrv) also known as Variable refrigerant flow (vrf) is a system that consists of a number of air handling units (indoor units) connected to a modular external condensing unit one or more. Our design team keep updated on the ongoing manufacturers design and operation innovations.

The refrigerant flow is varied using either an inverter controlled variable speed compressor, or multiple compressors of varying capacity in response to changes in the cooling or heating requirement within the air conditioned space.

Multi V (VRV) air conditioning systems have been designed specifically for high-rise buildings & large domestic homes / apartments. In fact, these systems boast the highest level of customer satisfaction in high-rise buildings.

They are quiet, stylish and ultra-efficient - and they come in a huge range of styles and designs to ensure the perfect form and function you require.

Features include 2 pipe cooling only, heating or cooling or the very flexible 3 pipe heat recovery system which allows multiple indoor units to run both heating and cooling at the same time.

Mitsubishi Electric has now released there City Multi “2” Pipe. The BC Controller houses a liquid/gas separator, allowing the outdoor unit to deliver a mixture (2phase) of hot gas for heating and liquid for cooling, all through the same pipe. Three pipe systems allocate a pipe to each of these phases. When this mixture arrives at the BC Controller, it is separated and the correct phase delivered to each indoor unit depending on the individual requirement of either heating or cooling.

  • A sophisticated control system enables switching between the heating and cooling modes
  • In more sophisticated versions, the indoor units may operate in heating or cooling mode independently of others
  • This latter arrangement offers potential energy savings when heating and cooling are required simultaneously in different zones
  • This type of system requires no internal plant room space and offers great flexibility through the many types of air handling units available
  • Applications vary from office, retail, hotel, luxury apartments, industrial, new and retrofitted buildings
